The San Antonio Women’s Group are organized to primarily offer a sustainable way to keep their culture by offering this cultural service. This tour option takes us to the village of San Antonio in the Cayo district. The Yucatec Maya village is nestled in the Maya mountains bordering the Mountain Pine ridge Forest Reserve. The women here have organized this cultural initiative to help with the maintenance of their food preparation and pottery-making culture. We support great initiatives such as this one. We hope you will too.

This trip leaves San Ignacio town normally at 8:30AM and returns after 1PM. Once on site, the women take over by giving all present a briefing of the days presentations.
Because guests have lunch there (they actually help with cooking it) the cooking session takes place first. Guests are given a couple menu options and once chosen, they start with the preparations. In between, they get a chance to bring corn and make their own corn tortillas which they get to enjoy with coconut oil and salt, as the the cultural even that it is.
